Collaboration is key

I would have to say that one of the best and most rewarding things I’ve been able to do since starting Lavender & Lilac is collaborating with other creatives. Not only do you get to help each other promote your brands but you also learn so much through the process. I’ve been fortunate enough to have collaborated with some pretty amazing people who have been willing to lend their time and talents to reach a common goal. Its been so great to be part of a community of like-minded individuals who are passionate about sharing their art with others. I wanted this blog post to highlight how essential collaborating with others has been in L&L’s journey and also to thank each an every person we’ve worked with.

The first person I ever collaborated with was my incredibly talented sister, Aira, who is a make-up artist and hair stylist, and co-founder of Sydney Beauty Bar. She helped me with my first ever photoshoot, where frankly, I really had no idea what I was doing. We braved the summer heat, along with my beautiful model, Daisy, set out to our location with my DSLR, a home made reflector and my first collection of headpieces in hand. As amateur as those first photos were, I’m still so proud of them. They were the humble beginnings of L&L and more importantly, a valuable learning experience. More than that, I couldn’t have been more grateful to Aira and Daisy for giving up their time to help me bring my little dream into fruition. It gave me the content to start my Instagram account and my first online store on Big Cartel.

Since then I’ve been fortunate enough to have many others willing to lend their time and talents to other photoshoots, hair tutorials, and our promo film created by Sekoya and Swim Good Life. Equally, I have been blessed to have been asked to be part of editorial shoots curated by incredibly talented individuals which have been featured on bridal blogs and magazines. This helped our brand to reach a much wider audience where our brides and valued customers were able to find us. It would be difficult to list every amazing person we’ve ever collaborated with, and I would be mortified if I left anyone out, so instead, check out our FEATURES page to see a few of our amazing collaborations. Click on the links on each feature to find out more about the shoots and each creative’s contributions.
